Logtown Cemetery
Logtown was located on the banks of the Pearl River. It had the largest sawmill in the world until June 1930. In 1964, the entire town was "relocated" by Nasa because of its proximity to the rocket engine test facility. The cemetery is now all that remains. 12 Graves from the Gainesville cemetery were reinterred here.
Directions:
Head west on Highway 90, and continue on the 607. Turn left on the 604. After about 1.7 miles, make a right hand turn, more of a Y actually. It is a paved road but has no name. Follow this road for another 1.7 miles and you will see the cemetery to your right, a bit away from the road. The picturesque clearing with the trees in front of the cemetery was the site of the old Logtown Church. Bring a picnic basket, it's a gorgeous spot.
