The many Harrison county friends of Hon. E.. H. Hoffmann were glad to see him at their capital, Mississippi City, one day last week. (SCE 12/03/1892)
Hoffmann, E. H. has resided in the county all his life and has been engaged in various lines of business before he was elected to his official position. He clerked in a store for awhile and then was in the railroad employ, and was the telegraph operator at this place six months before receiving his appointment as county clerk, and has proven himself so efficient and well qualified for the position that he holds his position until 1896, and that is a length of service but few men have been honored with, and in this one of the most important offices the county has to offer. He devoted his entire time to the office and it is with pleasure we note that the office is entrusted in such good hands, and though his official duties are arduous he bears up with a fortitude characteristic to men of his capabilities, and meets all with a cheery "How are yer," always good natured and in his usual good humor. He has proven true to the trust detailed to him and his retention in office insures to the people that it is still in the hands of one whom they can trust. Mr. Hoffmann is personally interested in the growth and improvement of the town from a pecuniary standpoint as he owns property in the city, but his main interest is in the broadminded way that one desires to see the town build up for in that way the entire populace receives the benefits derived therefrom, and Mr. Hoffmann does his duty by his chosen town and her good citizens. (SCE 05/20/1893)
