Manar, Dr. E. W. - Bailey, Prof., was chosen as one of the judges at the Harrison County oratorical contest. He was also requested to select another judge. Dr. E.W. Manar will serve with him. The contest will be held at Gulfport on Saturday, the 21st. (The High School Idea, Vol 1, BSL March 1908, 9th and 10th grades)

Manar, Dr. E. W. - Bailey, Dr., of our school, and Dr. E.W. Manar, of Bay St. Louis, with Prof. Boylston, of Ocean Springs, were the judges Saturday night at Gulfport in the annual Harrison county oratorical and elocution contest, an event of import and one that has long been anticipated, as the large attendance well evinced. The gold medal for oratory was awarded to B.G. Easterling, of the municipality of Wiggins, and to Miss Elaine Griffin, of Long Beach, the medal for elocution. Wiggins also captured the musician's prize. The next contest will be held next year, under the auspices of the Harrison County Teacher's Association. (The High School Idea, Vol 1, BSL March 1908)

Manieri, Miss Rosalie - On Saturday Miss Rosalie Manieri and Mr. Felix Fayard, both of this place, were married, Judge Jos. E. Saucier, officiating. The happy young couple have our best wishes for their future happiness and prosperity. (SCE 12/17/1892)
MANIERI, RUSSELL
Russell Manierei, son of Mr. And Mrs. A. T. Manieri of Bay St. Louis, now a resident of Houston, Txas, was shot five times in the chest. A passerby, shot in the abdomen and is reported dying.
Manieri was a former heavy weight champion of Mississippi and has battled many leading fighers of a few years ago. He is well known in Pass Christian and all wish him a speedy recovery. Late Friday his condition was reported good (Trip 3/16/38)

Manieri's. Located head of Washington St. on S. Beach Blvd. Red Hot was listed as South of Manieri's, North of Quintini's, East of D. Carver's and West of the Gulf of Mexico in 1908. (The Manieri sisters who live on Main St. across from the post office, told me that they lived in the Yenni House (510 S. Beach Blvd.) from 1915 or 1917 to 1932. Their father's gym was across the street, just north of the present American Legion Pier. (C.H.G.)
