Mauffray, Hon. Julian A., representative of this county in the State Legislature, was one of the few legislators who did not leave immediately after adjournment Saturday night. Monday evening his action was explained when he led to the altar at St. Peper's Catholic church, Miss Eva McGauffle, and the two were made man and wife by Rev. Father Dutto. The groom is one of the most esteemed and valued son and citizen of Hancock county and his worth and intelligence was recognized when the voters sent him to the State capitol to guide and promote their public interests. We are not fortunate to be acquainted with the bride, but we understand that she is well liked and highly esteemed for her many virtues and stands high wherever known. The happy couple left Jackson the same evening for their future home at Kiln. To Mr. and Mrs. Mauffray THE ECHO expresses a carload of good wishes for a long and happy life. (SCE, 2/17/1894)

Mauffray, Joseph O., (Photo) Moved to BSL from Fenton, Miss in July 1890. Son of J. C. and Armantine Cuevas Mauffray. First worked at George Planchet dry goods. The store was bought by Jos. F. Cazeneuve after Mr. Planchet's death and later was bought by Joseph O. Mauffray who owned and operated it from 1903 to 1939. Married Dora Thompson. (SCE Jubilee Edition, 1942 pg 19).

Maughermar, Mr. and Mrs. J. G., of South Bend, Indiana, arrived at the Bay this week to spend the winter and have rented Mrs. Gragnon's magnificent "Nettie's Villa". These wealthy Northerners are delighted with the Bay and its climate, and we feel confident that these excellent people will win many friends here. Mr. Moughermar (sp?) says he finds Bay St. Louis far superior as a winter resort over California and other places equally advertised. (SCE 12-21893)
