FIRE AT BAY CAUSES LOSS OF $20,000
Fire last Sunday afternoon, destroyed the garage and filling station property at Union and Hancock streets owned by Claude Monti and his adjoining dwelling, a two-story frame building, in Bay St. Louis, entailing a loss estimated at $20,000 with no insurance.
The fire originated in the vulcanizing department where a tire was being baked and spread rapidly beyond control. The Reviera Furniture Company building on an opposite corner was threatened, but escaped with only minor damage.

Claude Monti is operating the principal blacksmith, wheelwright, horse-shoeing and machine shops at Bay St. Louis, which is equipped with all of the latest improved tools, lathes, band saws and turning machinery, and which is driven by a 6 h.p. gas engine. Mr. Monti is the sole agent for the Egal Gas Engines and the Gray Gas Engines. His shops cover fully a quarter of a block. He has been successfully established eleven years, and has built up an extensive trade throughout Hancock County. His paint shop is thoroughly equipped for all kinds of automobile painting, carriage and wagon painting. In this connection, he makes a specialty of high grade finishing. He has a well stocked hardware and ship chandlery store, besides carrying gas engine supplies, harness, buggies, carriages, paints; being the sole agent for Harrison Bros. Paint and Varnishes. He has splendid facilities for the repairing of gasoline boats. Mr. Monti is a large property holder and a stockholder in the Merchants Bank. Moody, Cora - Pearlington M. E. Church South election of officers -A visit to the church Sunday school disclosed to the writer an event of unusual excitement which was the election of officers in that indispensible and religious department of the church. Supt. W. T. Stocker, who holds that responsible appointment emanating from a higher authority of the church was in attendance and in the discharge of the arduous duties he has assumed. After ceremonial rites were concluded, election with the following results: Assistant superintendent Mr. Alexander Orr; Secretary W. M. Orr; Librarian Dr. C. H.
