  THE ECHO, owing to the lateness of the fire as we go to press, is unable to go into more details and to correctly state the total loss, but it is safe to say that, including the above list of properties with stock of the stores, household effects, out-houses & etc., that $150,000 will not cover the damages wrought by the largest fire ever witnessed in Bay St. Louis. Olivari, Mr. L., returned from Biloxi Saturday night where he attended the funeral of his cousin, Mr. C. Olivari, born in Italy 53 years ago, and who died Friday morning at 9 o'clock.  The deceased was a member of the Masonic order, Knights of Pythias, Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, and the Spanish Benevolent Assoc. (SCE, 2/17/1894)

Oliver, Mrs. Tuleter LaFountain - Interview with on 6/13/91 Born 1920 in Ansley, Ms."Aunt Alice" (Colored mid-wife assisted birth).  Aunt Alice lived on Lakeshore Road approximately 1 1/2 miles south of Hwy 90.

 

                       At intersection of Lakeshore & Lower Bay roads lived blind Buddy Green. (He lived in house no longer there, diagonally across from Gulfview School) and tuned pianos and sold mops & brooms from a mop company owned by Maurice Robbe.

 

                       St John Church and Lakeshore Cemetery, approximately 1/2 mile south of Lakeshore-Lower Bay Road intersection, was originally the Garcia Family church and cemetery.  Present building is new.

  Mrs. Oliver took HCHS members to the home of Bud Ladner on this date where he provided numerous copies of pictures, his geneology and other information recorded under "Ladner, Bud".

Onorato, (Onotaro?) Miss Rose - Our Lady of the Gulf: The garden party and Biblical tableaux, given Saturday evening at the catholic shady grove, under the supervision of Platy, Mrs. Chas. and her guests, was a perfect success. Miss Onorato, Rose, of New Orleans, was the successful contestant for a diamond ring. The refreshment booths were liberally contributed to, and Allen, Mrs. Annie, gave an immense cake.  The proceeds will be appropriated to the church of Our Lady of the Gulf.  (SCE 09/09/1893)

Landrieu, Messrs. Victor and Henry, owners of the Opposition Bakery, sold it this week with the lease of the property to Mr. Wampans, a baker from New Orleans.  The change of the business takes place on May 17th.  (SCE 04/29/1893)

Orange Grove Cottage, The, on Main street, last night was the scene of much pleasure.  The young ladies of the house gave a hop for which the Eclipse Brass Band furnished the music. Dancing was kept up until a late hour when the evening of so much pleasure was brought to an end. (SCE 8/27/1892)
