Dody, Jean Baptist - In early 1808 a young man from France, Jean Baptist Dody came to visit relatives and friends in Old Biloxi and N. O.  During his stay, he was taken on a number of trips to fish, hunt and camp along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico.  On some occasions they entered Pearl River, Malutto Bayou and Bayou Cowan.  On April 26, 1809 he received a Spanish grant of 1280 acres, proposing to cultivate it until 1813.  This claim was located on what is now Oak Harbor.
