Lacassagne, Laurent: Up to the time previous of closing the forms to go to press, the Negro who attempted to take the life of Larent Lacassagne, as chronicled in these columns last week ahead of all other papers, is still at large. Citizens have been on the watch and search during the week and entertain hopes of his capture. If they succeed he will certainly meet his just and speedy punishment. His victim is on the fair road of recovery, under the care of Dr. F. Loeber and Dr. W. B. Rohmer. His condition was very critical, but by good attention and some seemingly hidden power his recovery is now certain. The lad relates that after he was struck his assailant took him by the feet and struck his head over the rail road irons. (SCE 09/16/1893)

Ladies' Minerva Mutual and Aid Association - Bay St. Louis Ladies' Mutual Aid Assoc. was organized at a meeting of ladies of the place held at the residence of Mrs. C. Gardebled, on Thursday evening, with the following named officers: President, Mrs. C. Gardebled; Vice-President, Mrs. H. Moreau; Treasurer, Mrs. A. Gragnon; Secretary, Mrs. George Muller. The name of the association indicates its object, however, it may be well to give an idea of the working that will characterize it. It will be strictly non-sectarian, admitted married and single lady, mutually assist its member in time of sickness and will be governed by regular rules and by-laws. A small monthly fee will be taxed each member. The association has many good points, and it should be upheld by every lady of the place. Ladies desirous to join can learn further particulars from any of the afore-named ladies or attend the next meeting to be held on Thursday evening, February 2nd, at the residence of Mrs. George Muller. In union there is strength-so let all the ladies unite. (SCE 1/21/1893)
Ladies' Minerva Mutual and Aid Association - The Bay St. Louis Ladies' Mutual and Aid Assoc. has already thirty members. (SCE, 1-28-1893)
Ladies' Minerva Mutual and Aid Association, of Bay St. Louis, is the new name and style the ladies of the place have given their mutual aid association, and under this title it will be legally incorporated. The change is a wise one, the new title seeming more fitting and very appropriate as it is known Minerva is the goddess of wisdom and strength, and will these noble ladies conquer and guide. A special meeting of this association was held on Thursday evening at the residence of Mrs. H. Moreau and Mrs. Geo. Muller. The object of the meeting was to adopt by-laws and rules. The Secretary read the by-laws and rules which were unanimously adopted. The next regular meeting will be held at the residence of Mrs. C. Gardebled, Thursday evening at 4 o'clock, February 16th, and members failing to attend will be subject to a fine. After the next meeting the initiation fee will be $1 instead of 50c. The association will be incorporated for 99 years. President, Mrs. C. Gardebled; vice-President, Mrs. H. Moreau; Treasurer, Mrs. A. Gragnon; Secretary, Mrs. George Muller; members, viz: Miss Zoe Posey, Miss Melanie Gragnon, Miss Fannie McCurry, Mrs. Charles Capdepon, Miss Florence Gardebled, Mrs. Marie Sherges, Mrs. Annie Avery, Mrs. Emma Shaff, Miss Eugenia Bremont, Miss Hortense Fayard, Mrs. Anna Norris, Mrs. Marie Regina Fayard, Mrs. Nina Ward, Mrs. A.
