Lanta place, The - (Lanata ? sp) At about 12 o'clock yesterday the Lanata place was completely burnt to the ground.  The fire originated from a defective flue in the kitchen.  The fire alarm rang but before the ladders and hose had responded, the fire was uncontrollable.  The house was occupied by Mrs. Hogan who lost two hundred dollars in cash and some jewelry.  The loss is roughly estimated at five thousand dollars.  (SCE 10/15/1892)

Lapsley, Mrs.  German Opera singer.  Lived at Front and Bookter Streets, number (upper 400 block, S Beach) Miss Daisy said the Glover family owned that property.  One lives on DeMontluzin.  I have a note that across on the beach was the Sea Gull Restaurant.

Latrigues, Bernard - On Wednesday morning the Angel of Death laid claim upon the young and pure spirit of Bernard Latrigues, a bright pupil of St. Stanislaus college.  The deceased was from Louisiana and before he left home for college he contracted malarial fever, resulting in death. His father and grand parents were with him during his illness and accompanied his remains home to Plaquemine parish, La.  Brother Stanislaus, of the college, also accompanied the remains to their final resting place.  Religious services were held at the college Wednesday morning.  (SCE 11/19/1892)

Laurant, Mrs. - A card party and supper was given Thursday at the residence of Mrs. Laurant by her daughters to a limited number of invited guests. At 9 o'clock the guests began to arrive, and soon after one of the most delightful times was in progress. The supper was well enjoyed, and the affair in general thoroughly enjoyed. Laurent, Mrs., residence was the scene of a delightful All Halloween party given by a large circle of the Bay's young folks.  Dancing was indulged in and a genuine good time reported.  (SCE, 11-4-1893)
