McKan, Rosa - Holmes Chapel M.E. Church was organized at Pearlington, Miss in 1870.  The members worshipped in a rented house until the church was built.  Rosa McKan and Isabella Gilbert raised the first hundred dollars on the new church.  This church has a great history in the life of the Negro both in religion and education.  Prominent preachers - Rev. Dr. Clemens, Rev. G. W. Smith, Rev W. H. Smith, Rev. Jesse Holmes.  On Apr 17, 1912 the steeple was struck by lightening.

McNabb, H.Y. - W. B. Jones in his history of Mississippi Methodism reports that Rodin Seal, Esq., gave (H.Y.) McNabb

 

(pastor of Pearlington Circuit) a lot, and the people built a log church on it. (PC&C p22)

  On July 15, 1858, Henry Weston married Lois A. Mead of Jordan River, Mississippi, in Gainesville and moved into the home formerly owned by Mr. Wingate.  They had nine children.  Their six sons later assisted in the operation of the limber company.  (From a paper by Mildred Otis Fountain.  Copy in HCHS VF, Logtown).

Saucier, and Peter Tudury as commissioners of the election and recommended Mr. Chalmette Villars as ticket commissioner, and G. F. Dabney and W. H. Meek as clerks and R. A.
