Sadler, Miss C. - Last night the friends of Miss C. Sadler and Mr. Walden Sadler enjoyed a delightful time at their home.  The occasion was a dance and card party.  Among those fortunate to be present were Misses Katie Boardman, Florence Bouyatt, Julia Gaspard, Mamie Weiss, Lulu Anderson, Marie Gaspard, Gertie Weiss, Ollie Caldwell, Messrs. Arthur Snyder, Robt.  Caldwell, Jas. B. Ulman, Charles Lasabe, Alphonse Barou, Jno. S. Ramond, Frank Caldwell and several others. (SCE 8/27/1892)

 

Sadler, Miss- On Tuesday evening Miss Sadler gave a dancing soiree at her residence.  A large number of young folks were present and all declared of having enjoyed themselves immensely.  (SCE 9/10/1892)

 

Sadler, Miss C. gave an enjoyable dance at her residence last night.  (SCE 9/17/1892)

 

Sadler, residence had a delightful soiree dansante Tuesday night.  The beautiful and spacious parlor was converted into a ball room and the tripping of the light fantastic indulged in by the numerous guests.  The dining hall was frequently visited and refreshments and cakes partaken of.  The affair was notable for the large attendance, enjoyment and the beautiful costumes worn by the young ladies.  (SCE - unknown date)

St. Cerrin, Capt. V.

 

                       "MAGGIE"-  The magnificent sea-going steamer "MAGGIE", Capt. V. St. Cerrin, will sail for Pilot Town, Cat Island, Biloxi and Bay St. Louis on Saturday, June 17, 1865, by way of the river.  As the "MAGGIE" in future will make daily trips, the greatest inducements are offered to parties taking a few days recreation at the watering places. * Note by M. J. Stevens * Reference to Cat Island is because Ship Island was still a military post used for holding Federal prisoners.  There was on Cat Island charcoal-making and turpentining operations using primarily negro labor.
