Mr. Earnest Finhold met with a serious accident last Saturday by stepping on a rake, three prongs of the garden tool penetrating very deep. Dr. R. J. Turner was immediately summoned and dressed the wound. (SCE 12/03/1892)

Turner, DR. R. J. is one of the leading practitioners in this part of the State and the oldest physician in the town, as he has been practicing medicine and surgery for the past thirty years. He received his medical education in the Nashville school, graduating from the Shelby Medical College in 1861, and quitted the halls of the Vanderbilt in 1874. He was assistant surgeon in the Confederate army for four years, and his work in that capacity fits him for surgical work, and he is skilled in the treatment of all kinds of wounds. He came to Bay St. Louis ten years ago, the first physician to locate in the town, and he occupies a neat office on the Beach front. He has a large practice, is the health officer for the county, and owns a beautiful residence in the city besides the county property. (SCE 05/20/1893)

Dr. R. J. Turner at head of Union St was damaged in the storm of Oct 3, 1893. It is mentioned that this office was next to Dr. Walkers which was in "the beautiful four-room cottage on the beach owned by Mr. Planchet" (Daily Picayune 6 Oct 1893).
