Favre Lumber Company, Pearlington, Miss, ; The new saw mill plant if the Favre Lumber Company began operations yesterday morning (July 3, 1901).

Favre, Nezan - In the 1850's Usan Vaughn, a Pearlington slave blacksmith, owned by Nezan Favre, developed the famous high wheeled wide tread "carrylog" that made it possible for Coast logging crews to work in wet ground and haul out logs of any size with their sturdy ox teams. (PC&C p 23)

Favre, R. D. - The second race between the "AUGUSTA" and the "SUSIE" took place on Sunday at Mississippi City and was won by the former. The race was a triangular one of about eight miles. The following gentlemen officiated: F. L. Gates and A. M. Delavalade, the judges; R. D. Favre, timer. Winning this race entitles the "AUGUSTA" to the first prize -a handsome silver punch bowl and ladle; the "SUSIE", getting second prize, a handsome clock. (SCE 8/6/1892)

Favre. Simon - The first known white man to live along the Pearl River was Simon Favre, a Frenchman. Born June 1, 1760 at Mobile, Simon was the oldest child of Jean Claude Favre and Marguerite Wiltz Favre. "There is little doubt Simon spent his younger life along the Pearl River", writes Favre genealogist Beauregard Favre, Jr. The naturalist, Bartham, made a reference to Simon Favre's residence on Pearl River in 1777, when Bartram made a trip from Florida to Louisiana that year. Favre's residence was located about one mile north of Pearlington at the landing on the Pearl River known as "the Gin". Favre was the principal interpreter between the French and Indians. As a reward for his work he received a land grant which encompassed much of modern day Hancock County. In 1810 Favre was appointed justice for the Parish of Viloxy (Biloxi). Col. Favre died in 1813 in Mobile. (PC&C)
