Burns, Mary E. Huber  -  October 20, 1945

Oldest Resident of Bay St. Louis Dead.

The funeral of Mrs. James W. Burns who died at her New Orleans home on Sunday, October 20 (1945) was held here from the Fahey Funeral Home on Tuesday, October, 22, at 4 p.m. with religious services at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, the Rev. Father O'Brien officiating. Interment was in Cedar Rest cemetery.

Mrs. Burns, the former Miss Mary E. Huber, was a native of Bay St. Louis and, by her first marriage was the wife of Gaston Gardebled also of this city. After his death she married Mr. Burns and made her home in New Orleans. Besides her husband she leaves four daughters, Mrs. Laris Ard, Mrs. Michael Lucai, Mrs. Andrew Knowles of Alanta Ga.; Mrs. Irma Bolen, New Orleans; two stepchildren, Mrs. Gordon Austin and James C. Burns of Houston, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Burns was one of the civic minded women of our city and headed many movements for the advancement of Bay St. Louis. She was always there when there was trouble or illness or death and there are many here who remember her and loved her. (From
