deBen, Barbara Jean Nelson - December 11, 2015
Barbara Jean deBen, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Bay Saint Louis, on December 11, 2015. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
Barbara was a registered nurse who started her career at the VA Hospital in Biloxi and finished it at Hancock Medical Center. She was a very warm, compassionate, and caring person who always put herself last. Everyone who met her loved her. She was just that special.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ebba Marie Nelson and Raymond Warren Nelson; her beloved husband of 52 years, Frederick Joseph deBen, Sr.; and her brother, Donald A. Nelson.
She is survived by her sister Maxine Shermer; her brother, Robert Nelson;, her children, Frederick "Rick" deBen, Jr. (Tracy), Theresa deBen Lacy (Alex), Pamela Plauche, Kim deBen Martin (Larry), and Wendy deBen; and her nine grandchildren, Henry and Zachary Plauche, Camille, Emilie and Lilianne Martin, Marguerite Christman, Nicholas and Julia Lacy, and Ava Grace deBen.
A very special thank you to Dale Scafidi, our angel sent from heaven who provided the best care and companionship to our mother for the past three and a half years and her Notre Dame Hospice Dream Team Paul Cook, Hayden Larroux Hoffmann, and Lisa Rhett, all whom she absolutely adored. Our family has been truly blessed.
A visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, in Bay St. Louis on Saturday, December 19th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
