Obituary Record

Henderson, Miss Julia  -  December 16, 1896

Wednesday afternoon shortly after 1 o'clock Miss Julia Henderson, daughter of Mr. John L. Henderson, was discovered lying face downward in the rear room of her father's law office, Front Street, with a revolver at her right side and a bullet hole in her right ear. Life had flown, but the body was still warm as it lay in a pool of blood.

A coroner's jury was impaneled, and after finding a letter on the person of the deceased, and other evidences, a verdict of self-inflicted death was rendered.

Miss Henderson was a beautiful girl of only 20 years of age, well educated and of more than ordinary intelligence. The remains were taken to Pass Christian the morning following for interment.
