GEORGIA BYRNE KUHNERS majored in Fine Arts at Newcomb College and studied at the University of Seattle in Seattle, Washington. While living in Japan four years, she studied with prominent artist Takashi Senda. In Virginia, two years of the late 1970's were spent learning the technique of batik. This helped make a broad use of color her forte.
GEORGIA'S love for art began at the age of ten. While at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, she began art lessons taught by the late Zell McMath. KUHNER considers it a privilege to have studied with the renowned artist Sadie Irvine, who encouraged and inspired her.
For the past three years, GEORGIA KUHNER has enjoyed the realization of a life long dream of painting portraits. She feels fortunate to have a family that fully supports her in her goals.
She has won several awards through the Pass Christian Art Association beginning in 1989, 1991 First Place, Pass Christian Yacht Club Show, 1991 Portrait Contest, First Place, Governor Mabus and the 1991 Publisher's Award from COAST MAGAZINE.
