Ms. Joe Williams Pi let

Bay St. Louis, Mississippi 39520
Dear Joe:
This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter of March 16th, for which I thank you.
Bay St. Louis was originally named Shieldsboro, which was incorporated under a statute dated February 8, 1838. The name was changed to Bay	St.	Louis	in	1875,	as
you will note in the photo copy of	the	index	to	our
municipal records.
I checked with the Department of Archives and History and was advised that Madame de	Mezieres	was	given
land around Bay St. Louis in 1720.
Trusting the above information will be of assistance and with best wishes, I am
Secretary of State
