The Department of Public Welfare administers aid to dependent children by grants of $15.00 for the first child, $10.00 for the second child, and $5.00 for all other children in the family groups. Crippled children are referred to the Crippled Children’s Clinic in Jackson.
Hancock County has twenty blind recipients of aid, who receive an average grant of $25.00. They are also given training, and are often set up in their own business through the Blind Division of the State Department of Public Welfare.
