ON AN EVENING IN APRIL, 1929, HUNDRED OS MEN AND WOMEN AND CHILDREN BEGAIN FILLING THE GROUNDS TO CELEBRATE ITS OPENING AND SAUCIER'S ORCHESTRDA LIT UP THE NIGHT WITH SOUNDS OF MUSIC.
NOW IN 1996, WE WILL AGAIN CELEBATE THE OPENING OF OUR TRAIN DEPOT.
FUNDS FOR THE PROJECT INCLUDE A FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION GRANT OF *694,560 AND A 20'/. MATCH FROM THE CITY OF BSL OF *173,640.
IT IS BEEN COMPLETELY RESTORED AND REFURBISHED,
SUDCH AS THE HARDWARE AND ORIGINAL WINDOW PANES, TICKETING CAGES, ETC.
NADIC ARTS, NADINE AND DICK STAMM, ART VETERANS HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED IN THIS BUILDING SINCE 1985.
SERENITY ART GALLERY OWNED BY JERRY DIXON SINCE 1936, IS OUR ART VETERAN REPRESENTING 150 LOCAL ARTISTS CREATIONS.
HIS BUILDING ONCE HOUSED STEVENSON'S ELECTRIC CO.
THE MASONIC TEMPLE BUILDING IS THE ONLY THREE STORY BUILDING DOWNTOWN BSL.
MANAGE AND CUMMINGS ANTIQUE SHOPS WAS ONCE KERN'S 5 & 10.
OLD TOWN BAY ST. LOUIS HOSPITALITY CENTER AND SUMMER LAND SHOP WAS BUILT IN 1920.
FOR MANY YEARS THIS HOME WAS THE MANERI SISTERS RESTAURANT, WHO LOST THEIR ORIGINAL RESTAURANT DURING HURRICANE CAMILLE, THEN LOCATED AT BEACH D.
AND MAIN ST. ON THE WATER SIDE.
THIS HOME WAS RECENTLY RENOVATED BY JUDITH HOLMES.
BAPTIST CHURCH IS CELEBRATING THEIR CENTENNIAL. STARTED IN 1896, ORIGINAL CHURCH BUILT ON ESTERBROOK, SITE OF THE NOW MCDONALD'S WARAEHOUSE.
METHODIST CHURCH BUILT IN 1896. THIS CHURCH WAS BUILT BY SHIPS' CARPENTERS. THIS IS WHY IN SOME WAYS THE INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE RESEMBLES OLD WOODEN VESSELS.
