Christ Episcopal Church using their facilities.
On April 9. 197.S all services wen; held in our ivsinrnl church building. On April 2 combined worship service was held with the Episcopal Church, with Rev. Nathan Barber as speaker in the morning service. On April 16 Rev. Charles Johnson was the speaker at the combined services held at our church.
This year Senior Adult Ministry had its beginnings in our church. Several conferences were held with Dr. Bob Tate as leader. Pat Barber was the leader in this ministry.
On October 15 the renovated buildings were dedicated. Four of the former pastors were present. At Sunday School Dr. Franklin Atkinson was the speaker. At the eleven o'clock Worship Services Rev. John Dearing spoke. The keynote speaker at the Dedication held at one thirt^ P.M. was Dr. Schyuler Batson. Rev. Perry Neal was the speaker at the night service.
On November 22 the Conmunity Thanksgiving Service w'as held at our church. The Senior Adults asked everyone to contribute one homemade ornament for the Christmas Tree to be put up in Fellowship Hall. There was a lapse in our minutes, so with the help of our "Christian Witness"
I found several things that happened during the year 1979. The Cotrmission Road Baptist Church informed us that they no longer needed the one hundred dollars which we had sent to them for six months previously because of a financial problem which developed when their church had internal problems. In June of that year a new kitchen facility was recommended and the church voted to accept the recotimendation. Some ladies of the church called this the "promised land" because they had waited so long for it. During September the Diamondhead Mission was constituted into a church under the leadership of Dr. Joe Cothen of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
