Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Diamondhead, coi join forces to kick off holiday season celebra

Normally it would be halls and holly, but Hancock County’s Red Ribbon Christinas by the Bay is

Bay St. Louis Business Association president Ruth Thompson said planning for the event began in July. “This is the third year we’ve done this, but it’s the first year it has been this big. This is the first time it’s been a joint venture between the two cities, Diamondhead and the county.”
The happenings don’t stop when the sun goes down December 1. The Bay St. Louis Little Theater will present “Life With Mother Superior” Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8 at 8:15 p.m. at the playhouse on Boardman Avenue.
In addition, the Bay High School Band and choir will present a Christmas concert Wednesday, Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m., at the Bay High Auditorium on Blue Meadow Road.
The festivities continue Saturday, Dec. 8, when the Hancock Caunty Courthouse,. Bay St._ Louis City Hall and Waveland City Hall turn on decorative lights at
5 p.m.

The 500 red ribbons donated by five of the six sponsors are only one feature of the celebration to be held Saturday, Dec. 1. A Red Ribbon Christmas Parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Main Street and Hwy. 90. It wil go east on Main to Beach Blvd., south to Carroll Ave., and west to Second Street, where it will disband. More than 30 units are expected to participate in the parade.
Meanwhile, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. young shoppers will be able to select gifts for family and friends (with some help from Santa’s elves) at the Santa’s Shop in the vestibule of the Courthouse. All merchandise is donated from area stores and is priced at $5 or less. Proceeds from the Shop will go to the Bay St. Louis Business Association’s Bay Middle School beautification project.
At the same time, Historical Society members will be at the Kate Lobrano House, Cue St., serving hot chocolate and Christmas cookies, and giftwrapping presents for Old Town shoppers.
Santa will make an appearance on the front lawn of the Courthouse at noon after the Christmas parade. While children are visiting with him, those who want to donate to the Hancock County Doll and Toy Fund can leave toys and dolls at the Doll House near Santa.
For those who think Christmas is not complete without songs, the St. Rose Choir will sing from

Other events include open houses at Halcyon House, Chartres Antiques, Yesterday’s Treasures, Potter’s House and Weaver’s Frame Studio; a Hwy. 90 Holiday Tour that includes Ellen Kane Gifts, Princess Shoppe, S.R. Chapman and The Kid Company; and an autograph party featuring Frank Davis and Leah Chase at Bookends on Hwy. 90.
