RIVER CRUISES: Follow the attack of Union gunboats aboard the Jefferson Davis, a big 83-foot motor vessel. It leaves at 2:30 o’clock daily, March 18 through Labor Day, from its mooring at the Vicksburg Marina. Moonlight cruises leave the dock at 8 o’clock Thursday through Saturday nights, June 1 through Labor Day and during Pilgrimage.
NATIONAL MILITARY PARK: Scene of the battle for Vicksburg, the park is open to visitors year round. It covers over 1700 acres and is considered one of the world’s most interesting battlefields. Admission to the park and museum is free.
COURTHOUSE: Built in 1858, the stately building is now a museum, housing one of the finest collections of Americana in the South. It is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 until 4:30 o’clock, and on Sunday from 1:30 until 4:30 o’clock.
McRAVEN AND CEDAR GROVE: These two lovely antebellum homes are open for tour year round. McRaven, called “the time capsule of the South,’’ and Cedar Grove, built over the period 1840-1858, are beautiful examples of pre-war architecture.
WATERWAYS EXPERIMENT STATION: The Corps of Engineers’ principal consulting and laboratory complex, the Vicksburg Waterways Experiment Station is open for public touring at no admission charge. Scale models of the lower 500 miles of the Mississippi River and of the famous Niagara River and Falls may be viewed as well as numerous other interesting
exhibits. The facility is open Monday through Friday with guided tours at 10 and 2 o’clock, and is located on Halls Ferry Road.

Tickets may be purchased at the offices of the Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce at 1004 Monroe Street or at the Tourist Information Centers at Clay Street and Old Highway 27 across from the National Military Park and on 1-20 at the Indiana Avenue exit.
