Lea cie Vaux Saucier is a self-taught artist who works in acrylics, watercolors, inks and collage. She has a natural inclination toward design which she believes to be the foundation of all good art.
Although Lea lives on 365 acres in the piney woods, she has a strong connection to coastal living from having grown up in Mobile Bay When selecting her subject for the Bay of St. Louis Bridge, she imagined being atop the bridge and visualizing all hidden things that lurked in the marshes and under the water. She remembered the crabs and a favorite childhood experience, “going crabbing." It was that unique coastal experience she wanted to depict.
Lea and her husband operate the Saucier Water Association. She paints with other local artists sharing techniques and stories and is passing her appreciation of art along to her grandchildren.
Lea is very honored to have her artwork displayed on the Bay of St. Louis Bridge. “I have lived in Saucier for 38 years and my family is very much rooted in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This makes my participation in this project especially meaningful to me.”
