Hello Mr. Guerin,
I was looking for some family information online about an ancestor Daniel R. Carroll. I came across your blog site and found it fascinating. I've never been able to connect Daniel R., owner of Ackbar Plantation in New Orleans, to Daniel, signer of the Bill of Rights. It seems though that you have connected the dots for me on your article, "The Carroll Plantation".
I grew up in New Orleans and Pass Christian. I had no idea that there was a Carroll House in Hancock County. Today I live in Maryland where many 'a Carroll footprint can be found. Here too we have a Carroll House in downtown Baltimore.
My great-grandfather was John M. Parker, who as you note was Governor of Louisiana. He owned a summer home in Pass Christian, as did his daughter Virginia, who was my grandmother, and her husband, my grandfather, Walker Saussy. The Parkers and Saussys have been in Pass Christian for many generations. My Mother still lives there today and my father is buried in a Saussy family plot in Pass Christian, along with his parents Virginia and Walker.
