Our Church's responsibility would be to provide literature and teaching staff. No date was set but it was mentioned that probably around Easter would be a good time to begin.
During November, the Sunday School Enlargement Campaign was begun with the help of J. W. Brister, Associational Director.
It was announced that our Radio Ministry cost us about $300 a month and was being sponsored by several Sunday School classes. Our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering this year was $3,500. Our Church budget was $147,561. The following is a summary of our report on the year's basic numerical growth: Church membership 788, Sunday School 323, Church Training 104, Women's Missionary Union 46, Brotherhood 40, and Church Music 88. In 1984, our church was still moving forward in missions. The Lottie Moon Christmas offering was $3,500. Our church budget this year was $150,000. Our radio Broadcast Ministry still continued at the cost of $375 monthly. Sam Wilboum, Sunday School Superintendent, recognized and thanked all workers of the past year. With 340 enrolled, he challenged the church to increase our enrollment by 10% during the year. Margaret DeHaan received a pin for seventeen years of perfect attendance in Sunday School.
On August 12, 1984, Robert White resigned as Minister of Youth. During July a printed resolution concerning abortion was distributed to the congregation. Later it was voted on and accepted by the church. The pastor commented that the Women's Clinic for performing abortions would be opening soon. During June it was announced that Jack Hode would be entering the New Orleans Theological Seminary in September. A letter approving and supporting this was given by the church. Also, we pledged our prayer support. During October the Dodsons made a Mission Trip to Kenya. The church backed this trip by generous donations for medicine and supplies. Several men made a trip to Michigan to help build a church.
