1,500 qualified voters to sign in Hancock County to keep dock-side gambling out of our county. Our budget for 1990-91 was accepted as $221,000. The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering goal was $6,000 for our church. Everyone was urged to vote on December 4 and let their vote say "No" to gambling. In October, in a called business meeting after the morning worship service, a resolution opposing gambling was read. A motion was made to approve this resolution as the position of First Baptist Church opposing all forms of gambling. It passed unanimously and was published in two local newspapers. At the close of this year the church voted to negotiate a $30,000 loan for construction of a church building at Bayside Mission. During this year our records revealed that First Baptist Church had 472 resident and 335 non-resident members. Fourteen percent of our receipts went to the Cooperative Program and 6% to the Associational Missions.
During the early months of 1991, our services were centered around the service men of our church family serving in Operation Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia. Boxes of food were packed by church members and sent to the service men who were members of our church. Prayer lists were made of soldiers who were relatives of our members and used in all our services. The Annie Armstrong Offering goal for our church was set at $2,000. During April, the Gulf Coast Baptist Association met at our church. The church voted to make a gift of $5,136.16 to Bayside Mission for a building. May 5 was designated as "Dr. Ramsey's Day." Along with the Senior Adults, we honored Dr. B. L. Ramsey as one of the oldest members of our church. He joined our church in 1927 when the church was located in the Cemetery on Easterbrook Street. During May, we received an invitation to the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Brother John T. Dealing, our former pastor, in Great Bridge First Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Puppet Ministry Group was organized and about
3	months later the Youth Mission Team used the puppets in Daytona Beach, Florida. The church granted Brother Nathan Barber a three months leave of absence. Dr. Luther Dorr was to be Acting Pastor in his absence. This year, the Church Directories were made. During the regular church service in November, Brother Nathan Barber read his letter of resignation to those attending. He had
