dollars, ranking us as the fourth largest contributor. On May 28, concerned citizens held an important meeting in the auditorium of Gulfshore Baptist Assembly. The meeting was held to prevent a casino from getting approval of a site near Gulfshore. It was successful and the casino request was denied. Vacation Bible School for ages 4 through sixth grade was held on June 20-24 and for grades seven through twelve on June 6-10. Rev. & Mrs. James Gilbert, Dr. & Mrs. Bob Mathis, and Dr. Ed Deuschle attended the Southern Baptist Convention in Orlando, FL, on June 14-16. In July, the church voted on a recommendation to return the Retreat Site to the M. L. Dodson family for development by another interested party. Our church had not been able to develop it into a usable facility, was not able to adequately maintain it, and it was an insurance liability. Mrs. Dottie Gilbert set up an ?English as a Second Language? workshop in July.
In August, a new time schedule was set up. Beginning September 4, Discipleship Training, RAs, GAs, Mission Friends, and Youth Choir will meet at 5:00 p.m. and Evening Worship at 6:00 p.m.. This is a permanent change for all twelve months.
