Gainesville site to be revisited
■ STENNIS SPACE CENTER — Former residents of Gainesville — one of four towns cleared away to make way for SSC — and their descendants are invited to a program commemorating the completion of NASA’s Cultural Resources Survey of the Gainesville courthouse and surrounding town.
The program is here at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rouchon House. Guest speaker will be NASA archaeologist Tom Sever.
Other speakers will be NASA chief historian Roger Launius from Washington, D.C.; Charles Gray, president, Hancock County Historical Society; Roger Walker of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History; and SSC Director Roy Estess.
After unveiling the permanent sign marking the courthouse site, tours will be conducted.
