jj- QQ^2	^	PORTABLE	SA1	TILL BOOMED THE
LUMBER INDUSTRY

"Gainesville (Miss.) Advocate" - April 11, 18^6 - MA'microfilm
The "Gainesville (Miss.) Advocate" in its April 11, 18^6, issue reported (probably by clipping from another newspaper) that a Portable Saw Mill had been invented.
If this was a first for mobility in the woods with easy movement of such machinery to new forests, it undoubtedly had a big impact in speeding up the wood-cutting and lumber industry.
A New Orleans factory in 1803 or I80W which produced saw mill machines vas destroyed by axemen and sawyers who thought they would be put out of Jobs because of it.
