the installation of"a downtown Gulfport Motor Bank to facilitate drive-up banking customers, and to the system-wide conversion to pneumatic drive-up teller stations and the introduction of 24-hour banking through the bank's new Mini-Bank locations.
The creation of banking centers in suburban locations has been a major factor, along with experienced management leadership, in making the Hancock one of the most respected banks in Mississippi and a banking leader in South Mississippi.
As the bank entered its seventy-fifth year of operation, Mr. Seal announced the merger with the Bank of Commerce in Poplarville. He said that "joining with this fine bank, whose history dates back to 1914, will emible Hancock to broaden its base into northern Pearl River County, while, at the same time, provide an eidditional facility for our friends and customers already in northern Hancock County."
Not content to sit idly back and dwell on past accomplishments, the Hancock has adopted its theme for this celebration: "It's our seventy-fifth year at the Hancock but we've only just begun."
In all cases the Hancock Bank has been invited by the cities themselves to establish its service — undoubtedly due largely to the Hancock record during these past 75 years of promoting the civic and business interests of those communities of v/hich it has become a part.
SERVING THE PUBLIC INTEREST As far back as around the beginning of the century when, as we stated before, there was no ferry across the Bay of St. Louis the Hancock Bank helped finance private interests in establishing and operating a 15 to 20 car steam ferry from Bay St. Louis to Pass Christian, and used its influence with the counties of Hancock and Harrison to provide the proper approaches.
