And when the Stennis Visitors Center reopens this spring, patrons will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the facility through the “Swamp to Space” exhibit, which was designed to tell the story of and pays tribute to the families who moved their homes to make way for the space age in Mississippi. The names of the 2,202 family members who moved are listed on the exhibit. Also included is a video history of the five communities in existence before the creation of Stennis — Gainesville, Logtown, Napoleon, Santa Rosa and Westonia.
