Diary written by Amelia, sister of Adeline in 1836 indicates brothers Asa and Samuel already in HC.

Amelia's diary is about trip from NC to Pearlington. On same trip, William Poitevant, who married Mary Russ, another sister of Amelia. They left 18 Feb., arrived 14 April, paying many times for ferries across rivers and streams. Amounts seem high for the day. No mention of other wagons besides Poitevant's, and no mention of taking slaves with them. While in Georgia, stayed with Uncle Wingate.*(There is a Wingate in 1850 census of HC. He was born in NC and was about age 60(?); oldest child age 24, born i MS.) ferry fees paid at least 20 times, as much as $3.00.

1840 - Amelia gives cow, calf, etc. to Lois Mead, b. 1840 (birth present to neice, daughter of Adeline?)
6-12-49 - Asa and Mary sell to Poincy land in BSL by church.
4-3-55 - Asa appointed trustee of 21 slaves owned by Amelia.
4-18-56 - Sheriff's sale of saw mill fro $97, first to Asa, then to Macguire for same amount.
4-20-57 - Purchase by Samuel Russ of slaves, price $2200.
