BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. - For many New Orleanians, this beach-side town is little more than an exit sign on the way to the big beaches, seafood restaurants and glittery casinos of the Gulf Coast.
But those who take time to explore will find that Bay St. Louis is a real gem in Mississippi’s crown.
I’m talking particularly about the Old
Town in Bay St. Louis, where weekenders from New Orleans, a colony of artiste and even some locals have been seduced by the languid hospitality.
These people are friendly.
Tucked in a little pocket off Highway 90 before the bridge to Pass Christian, Bay St. Louis is an easy hour’s drive from New Orleans.
