Well-known Bennie French’s tavern at Henderson Pt. was a shambles. Ringer’s grocery store at Henderson ave. and St. Louis St. simply didn’t exist any more and the Western Auto store in the background was wrecked. The roof stood on the P. C. Post Office, but the north and south walls were gone, and the inside was swept clean. All that was left of Gulf National Bank was the vault.
