Gone are Darewood Gardens
Waves along the Jourdan wash from sight the beauty of Darwood Gardens. Atop a bluff, a gem in its own time, this patch of backwoods was a greenhouse of floral beauty. The remnants are depicted in these pictures. The house on the premises was owned by Dr. Emmett Lee Irwin, and the fountain and bell structure designed by August Perez. P drive down Crump Road will g^ow ornate wrought iron gates which were once those of Charity Hospital in New Orleans. The acres have since been subdivided and the structures destroyed.
