Dear Hancock County Historical Research and Preservation Group:
We are in the process of conducting a cultural resources survey of the Pearl River from prehistoric to modern times. Our study area is a one-mile-wide corridor on either side of the river from the Ross Barnett Reservoir to the mouth of the river.
We would greatly appreciate knowing what information your society may have for this area. Basically, any activities which occurred along the Pearl River and can be documented will be useful to our study. Names of early settlers, early churches, steamboat wrecks, early settlements, etc. are the kinds of data we are seeking. County histories are especially useful.
I	will be visiting some of the towns along the Pearl River in the near future, and if I am in your area I will try to make an appointment for a visit. 1 look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Bill Moore Research Associate
