On Tuesday, April 25th, 1945, the Chief of Navy personnel, Vice Admiral Randall Jacobs, advised, County Tax Assessor and Mrs. George L.
Cuevas, that their son George L.
Cuevas, Jr., Coxswain, United States 1 Navy was missing, following action i while in the service of his country.
The Navy Department further ex-| pressed their appreciation of the | great anxiety of his parents; but stated that details were not now | available and that delay in receipt <Jf them must necessarily be expected nursery to prevent possible aid to the enemy, months.
Junior as he was familiarly known —— was 23 years of age on February 6th.
He enlisted in the Navy on September 30th, 1940, and was in active duty at Pearl Harbor on that memorable day of December 7th, 1941 at which time he saw many of his mates lose their lives. He has carried on for ! them and for hia country. His ship i has been in practically every major engagement in the Pacific, Coral Sea,
Midway, The Phillipines Invasion,
Iwo Jima, and many others.
He was a member of one of the gun crews on his ship 4 Prior to this service he was in the submarine service for one year.
Junior attended Bay High and St. Stanislaus prior to his entry into the service.

A U. S. Troop Carrier Base, France: :—Sergeant Eugene Mogagab, Jr., whose parents live at 974 South , Beach Boulevard, Bay St. Louis, is 1 serving as chief of an electrical maintenance crow with a service squadron of a Troop Carrier Service Wing in France.
Service Wing, commanded by Col. Franklin S. Henley, repairs and services the planes and' gliders of Mjr. Gen. Paul L. Williams’ U. S. Troop Carrier Forces. Its efficiency in maintenance work was an important role in the successful re-supplying of the beseigod American Forces at Bastogne during the Germans’ Ardennes counter offensive.
