HANDSBORO FOUT "Y, SAW MILLS, STORES DOING GOOD WITH INCREASE IN GROCERY AND DRY GOODS STORES EXPECTED — CONSIDERED QUICK RECOVERY FROM FOUR WAR YEARS OF BUSINESS INACTIVITY March - 1866
N.O. Daily Crescent - Monday, March 19, 1866 p 11 c 2 quoting "Handsboro Democrat"
No one could have thought a year ago that in so short a time Handsboro could have recovered from the inactivity of the four years' var.
Business of all kinds is looking up, and bids fair in a short time to eclipse its former mark of enterprise.
Our foundry, sav mills and stores are all doing feood tmsiness, and an addition to our present number of dry goods and grocery stores may shortly be expected.
Our vhole coast is experiencing similar changes.
The delightful and healthy climate is being appreciated abroad, and capitalists are seeking property and homes on our seashore.

N.O. Crescent of Wednesday, April W, 1866 p 2 c ^ quoting "Handsboro Democrat"
There must be some peculiar attraction in this shnd-hill country
of ours indescribable, which dravs among us new faces and new citizens
from every direction.
At present, all things indicate a lively season.
