POLITICS
The vhole state of Mississippi is ablaze with political excitement. Barbecues and public addresses are had in all the Counties and the meetings are spoken of as large beyond previous precedents.
Weatherwise frost had reached Natchez October 6 and on October 13-11*, i860, was at Franklin County, Vicksburg, Copiah and Yazoo. Baseball and Turf reporting was covered in athletics. Panama and Mexico had civil strife. Crime was regularly reported.
Mississippi Falr of .November..,3« 186.0« had competitive military companies drilling for everjHstate in the South and asked Memphis, New Orleans, Mobile, Baton Rouge to compete for prize of S100 and $200 for best Dragoons and Infantry companies.
Yellow fever was at Mobile with five deaths reported.
