join THNOC Curator/Historian Erin M. Creenwald as she introduces and signs her new book, Marc-Antoine Caillot and the Company of the Indies in Louisiana: Trade in the French Atlantic World (LSU Press, 2016). Creenwald pushes beyond the first-person narrative introduced in A Company Man: The Remarkable French-Atlantic Voyage of a Clerk for the Company of the Indies (THNOC, 2013) to explore Louisiana’s place within the wider 18th-century world.

“RUM, RHUM, RON! A HISTORY OF RUM IN THE NEW WORLD”
his culinary symposium will celebrate the history, production, and consumption of the most widely produced liquor in Louisiana. The event will be moderated by jessica Harris and features Ed Hamilton from the Ministry of Rum, New York Times drink columnist Rosie Schaap, cocktail historian Elizabeth Pearce, and more. The program also includes a happy hour event on Friday at the Palace Cafe and a rum tasting Saturday evening at the Hotel Monteleone.
