Through the efforts of founding board member Ernest C. Villere, THNOC makes one of its early landmark acquisitions, the papers of Pierre Clement de Laussat (MSS 125), French colonial prefect at the time of the Louisiana Purchase. The Collection’s first member organization, the Laussat Society, was later named in his honor.................
