are Catholics, seems to dictate further enlargement of the church it the near future.
There are four missions with churches attached to Waveland— Clermont Harbor, Lakeshore, Logtown and Ansley. The firs church at Ansley was erected to accommodate the workmen at the Kranky sawmill, but when the mill closed the residents scattered, and the church fell into ruins. A new church was built there in 1934, and the few remaining people were brought back to the fold. Bishop Gerow dedicated the church on March 8, 1935.
Mass is offered in these mission churches on one Sunday in each month, except during the summer months, when Clermont Harbor has services every Sunday for the accommodation of the visitors.
Since the introduction of automobiles, Waveland, as in the case of all other resorts along the Gulf coast of Mississippi, has experienced an unusually heavy increase in the number of people who come to the Coast for the week-end or for short periods of vacation or for outings. Shortening of the route from New Orleans recently has increased the number still further. Among thes* people are many Catholics who stop here to hear Mass.
