Back Porch
The Easter Bunny’s Lament
by Joe Gould
Being an Easter Bunny really isn’t funny,
There’s quite a bit of work in it, you know;
Hiding in the garden all those eggs I’ve boiled to harden In such a way their colors surely show.
Folks think the major task is hiding kiddies’ baskets In such a way that they are easily found.
I must admit that all the hopping is much like “hell’s-a-popping’ And that twinges in my hinges do abound.
Dashing about so frantically hiding things romantically Really does get to me in the legs.
And the job is never gainful, in fact, it’s rather painful When I try to lay those brightly colored eggs!
Our entire Back Porch family, including our contributors and our advertisers, join in wishing everyone a blessed, happy Easter!
