Chapter I Poverty Point Settlement Patterns
and Motley Mound, terraced and ramped, and the conical Mound D, covering a possible crematorium, are described below. The Lower Jackson Mound, 2.4 km (1.5 mi) south of Mound A and antipodal to Motley, is a more modest cone (Fig. 8).
