PROCLAMATION OF QUARANTINE
Mayor’s Office Biloxi, Miss., August 11, 1888
Whereas, it has been officially reported that Yellow Fever prevails
in the towns of Jacksonville, Manatee, Tampa and Plant City, in the
State of Florida, therefore, it is hereby proclaimed that no person
nor the baggage of any persons, nor any goods, wares or merchandise
shall be permitted to enter, be brought or remain within the limits
of the town of Biloxi;
and any person on entering, and all articles as enumerated so brought, will be detained at a Quarantine Station established outside the limits of the corporation, for disinfection, at the cost of the persons or the consignee of the baggage, goods, wares and merchandise.
