A very pretty christening ceremony took place at the
Smokey Bend Catholic church, in Ascension Parish, La., last Sunday, the 24th. His Grace Archbishop Jansens, god father of Mrs. A. J. Berthelot, performed the ceremony over the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Berthelot. The sponsors for little Ethel Mary Berthelot were His Grace Archbishop Jansens and Miss Blanche Avery. After the ceremony the occasion was magnificently celebrated at the Chatam plantation home by a big champagne banquet, and many were the toasts drunk to the future welfare of the young Miss. On Wednesday Mrs. Stanley Holmes gave a picnic party to Calleryville in honor of Mrs. Annie Avery. The day was most charmingly spent on the Callery place and the party entertained by Mrs. Callery and her charming daughters in a pleasing and hospitable manner.. Among the picnickers were the following-named: Mrs. Stanley Holmes, Mrs. A. Avery, Mrs. Dupre, Miss Alice Dupre, Miss Ella Richards, Misses Blanche Avery, Mamie Cutter, Miss J.
