Wedding in New Orleans
For the wedding of Miss Phila Suzanna Jones of Las Vegas and Allan T. Back of Austin, Tex., their families traveled from distant points to New Orleans on Jan. 11.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Jones, went from Las Vegas, and her sister, Miss Julie Jones, arrived from Washington, D.C., where she had been taking graudate courses at American University. After the wedding, Miss Jones came to Las Vegas for a short visit before returning to Washington to begin her new job as an assistant to the new Congressman from Wisconsin, Richard Kaften.
The bridegroom?s father and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Kurt Back of Durham, N. Car., and his grandmother, Mrs. Thekla Baeck of Long Island, N.Y., were present for the rites. Mrs. Edith Back, mother of the bridegroom, was the hostess for the wedding, which was held in her home.
The bride is a member of two of the earliest families in Las Vegas. Her late maternal grandparents were Dr. and Mrs. Roy W. Martin, who came into Las Vegas upon the founding of the town in 1905. Her late paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Moseley Jones, came in 1909.
While attending Valley High School, from which she was graduated in 1969, she was an active member of the Junior Service League of Las Vegas and Job?s Daughters. Both the bride and groom are graduates of Reed College in Portland, Ore.
They will make their home in Austin, Tex., where she is employed in social welfare work and he is an academic assistant at the University of Texas, while working on his doctorate degree.
