Martin 0. Blanchard, Sr.
1895- 199^
We are sorry to report the death of our oldest.member Mr. Martin 0. Blanchard, Sr. who would have been 99 years old in ? a few days. He died March 16th.
Mr. Blanahard joined Mobile Rock and Gem Society in 196^ and for many years he waa a very active member. He was responsible for showing us where field trip areas were,such as the Blue Bede, Castleberry for Selenite Gypsum,
St. Stephens Quarry for fossils,
The gravel pit in Beaumont, MS. and several others as he and our late member, Z.D. Lavender were avid fieldtrippers and they shared their knowledge and locations with the rest of us. In 1969 he waa awarded Honorary Life Membership which is the highest award given by Mobile Rock & Gem Society for outstanding seryice to the Club.
He was a very 'generous and helpful person especially to new members and children. When wo won't on fieIdtrips he would show you what to look for and how to find it and if you didn't have the proper tools he always had some extras that he would share.
He is survived by two daughters and four sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. For the past 3 years he made his home with his daughter Mary Alice Gonzale.^. here in Mobile.
He waa buried, in New Orleans.

Mr. Martin O. Blanchard, Sr.? A native of New Olreans, LA and a resident of Mobile, AL for the past 52 years died on Wednesdy, March 16, 1994. He is survived by two daughters. Mary Alice Gonzalez of Mobile and Olivia (Vetsy) Smith of Theodore; four sons, Martjn 0. Blanchard, Jr. of Bay St Louis, MS, Dupont F. Blanchard of Conago Park, California, Donald T. Blanchard of Mesa, AZ, John R. Blanchard of Bush, LA; one sister, Elvie Pence of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary?s Catholic Church on Saturday, March 19, 1994 at 9:30 A.M. followed by graveside services at 2:00 P.M. in the St. Louis Number Three Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. Visitation at the funeral home between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. on Friday with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 P.M. Family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Little Sisters Of The Poor. Funeral arrangements by Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street Extension, Mobile. AL__________

Mrs. Olivia Blanchard?A native of Plaquemine, Louisana and a resident of Mobile for many years, died in the family residence on February 24, 1982. She is survived by her husband, Martin O. Blanchard, Sr. of Mobile; four sons, Martin O. Blanchard, Jr. of Jackson, Mississippi, Dupont F. Blanchard of Conaga ; Park, California, Donald T. Blanchard of Huningfon Park, California and John Ronald Blanchard 0/ Bush, Louisiana; two -disinters, Mrs. Mary-A- Gonzales of Mobile and Mrs. Olivia E. Smith of Theodore; 25 grand-children, 16 great-grandchildren and ottier relatives. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Friday, February 26, 1*82 at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. Thursday. Intement will be In St. Louis Cemetery #3 in New Orleans at 2:30 P.M. Friday. The family requests contributions b? made to the Little Sisters of the Poor. Funeral arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin St. Ext., Mobile, Alabama.
