Dear Ms* BouslogV
Tour letter of June 5, 1979 addressed to the Chamber of Commerce was referred to the Banoook County Historical Society for reply;
There was a family of	living	in Bry 8t,* Louis in
the early part of this century** Zn fact, my great-grandfather (Jesse Cowand} in the early 1800s owned a large plantation at the north end of town and built a hone known as "Elmwood Manor" * After the death of ay great-grandfather in 1852 the plantation was divided among the heirs* The part on which Elmwood Manor stood was sold in 1877 to a Jules Tuyes* Jules Tuyes in 1880 sold this property to John D/ Cobb, who apparently died and his wife, Mary Cobb, sold the property to one Louis Leonard, who, in turn, in 1901 sold the property to L* J** Henderson and	*n *903 the Hendersons
sold their interest in the property to M. p, ] ouslog, who later aoved to Gulfport, Mississippi (Harrison County)* M* IV Bouslog in 1906 sold the property to Elba H. Bouslog who owned the property until 1919*	?
A* Mr.* John	H. Bouslog and	his brother Will Bouslog bought
and owned a good bit	of property in	Gulfport, Mississippi, as they
were real estate developers there and were instrumental to some extent	in	bringing the	Gulf & Ship Island Railroad to Gulfport.
I fnew this	Bouslog family	quite well, but most' of them have
sinoe passed away and there are none of the family living in this area at this time/
As to the little street known as Bouslog (whioh is'not very old and unimproved)| Z understand was just a name of one ? f the older families who had lived in this area at one time and not for any particular person*" This Z will try to verify if possible* X will try to get whatever information I oan and communicate with you further*
1 would refer you to the following fear more infonmti on on the Bouslog family (they may also have oensus reoerds)t
